Mission Farewell
Today was the big farewell! Many friends and family came to support my in-laws in this endeavor. Sister Whitehead (Mother-in-law) did a nice job explaining how you can not bargain with the Lord as she did, because she is now one week away from starting her mission. Brother Whitehead (Father-in-law) talked about humanitarian missions and how they are different from other missions. If nothing else, I think it was their hope that maybe, just maybe they could spark some interest in someone to serve a mission. There are so many different missions available to meet the needs of the members of the church, that when the time is right, anyone can serve.
Funny dialogue from sacrament meeting:
BRAKEN (grandson): Mom do girls have to go on missions?
AMY (me): They do not have to, but can if they want to when they are 21.
BRENNA (granddaughter): Dad is Grandma 21?
Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha.....
I've included the following song sang to by Sister Whitehead's singing group at the farewell dinner. However, I do not know the tune, so enjoy the words!
Corliss used to think Guyana was in Africa. Her hair had to be colored every month. west Indies was somewhere very far away, she and Vince here in Clifton would stay. Now she's developed quite a craving and you'll always hear her raving 'bout a certain place that needs her there real soon. Don't even try to guess, cuz it's time that we confess that somewheres never going to be the same!
Guyana, yes it's Guyana. She's going to leave her home and serve there. On a bike or on her feet she will serve there and be sweet. Guyana, Guyana, Guyana.
The bike trips they used to count on to have their share of fun. Don't seem to be important serving a mission is second to none. Examples to us all of sacrifice and love. A willing heart and mind and might to go. They'll share their love with all whether short or tall.
Guyana, yes Guyana. She's going to leave her home and serve there. On a boat or on her feet she will serve there and be sweet. In Guyana, Guyana, Guyana. --

Preston Citizen Announcment
Here is a look at our mission call as published in our local paper,
The Preston Citizen November 19,2008. This Sunday we will be having our farewell. So much to do in so little time (have our farewell, enjoy Thanksgiving, then leave for our mission). We will post some pictures of our farewell activities and of our family and friends as soon as we can.
