Look at the missionaries

This shows all of the missionaries in our zone and our Mission President and his wife. We are at our zone conference. We have two zones in Guyana and this is the zone we belong to. We have a group of wonderful young men here. They are hard working and very spiritual.

Yes we have some bananas

This is our back yard. We just cut this bunch of bananas from the tree in the background. Whenever you harvest bananas, you have to cut the tree down because it only grows one crop. New trees grow rapidly for the next crop in a year or so.

Big critter

This is a giant lizard (about 4 ft. long) we saw while we were walking in the jungle of Trinidad. He was enjoying the sun.

Helping out

We worked with an HIV/AIDS hospital. We donated several things including this emergency lighting system. In Guyana, the power goes out all of the time and they needed this battery system that runs just the lights when the main power goes off.

Indians?

These are East Indians whose ancestors came from India. These ladies were dressed up for a celebration. They celebrated the coming of the East Indians to Guyana in the 1700's. Beautiful dresses aren't they.

Don't let it bite you

This is a giant soldier ant that is so strong it can bite through leather. They guard the nests of the worker ants (leaf cutting ants). These ants are found in Trinidad.

The beauty of Trinidad

We had a few hours one day in Trinidad and went to this beautiful spot where the reflection was just perfect for a picture. Every time we visit an island, we take a few hours and visit some sites like this.

Rain, rain, rain

We were in Trinidad looking for the giant turtles on the beach when it started raining hard. I was lucky to take this picture. Isn't it beautiful.

4-wheeler tracks?

Not really. These are the tracks on the beach of a giant Leatherback turtle. They are over eight feet long and can weigh over 1,500 lbs. These tracks were made by a large female that had been laying her eggs that night and then left the beach. Only 1% of the baby turtles survive when they are hatched.

Huge forklift

This is a huge machine used to lift containers off of stacks then move them around the yard. This is our container of items that came from Salt Lake that we gave to a humanitarian group. They then distributed the items to the poor in eastern Guyana.

Closing ceremony

Every time we have a project, we must have a handing over ceremony with the people we give items to and the media. We usually have some of our members there to represent the Church and actually do the handing over. Some of the time I have to do it. I am speaking to a large group gathered to receive their chairs along with people from the press and TV stations.

Wonderful wheelchairs

We gave 250 wheelchairs to an organization in Trinadad. These are a few of the people that came and got fitted for their chairs. They were thrilled to get them.
